  • Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, Simon's Town, South Africa
    This is the highlight of the tour, your guide will provide an overview of the area and give and give you ample time to explore the beach. You will learn about endangered African penguins that call the beach their home. These penguins roam freely on the beach and are comfortable being near humans. Admire them from a designated viewing point, and observe these creatures as they go about their day. Enjoy some free time to relax on the beach or explore the surrounding landscapes. Sunny days! take a swim in the refreshing waters.

    After a hours spent exploring, you can enjoy the coastal drive back to Cape Town with a stop at the Boyes drive in Muizenberg which has absolutely stunning views of the False Bay coast. This is also a good spot to watch surfers local and international alike tackling Cape Town’s waves.

Jean Luc, our driver and guide, picked us up right on time and provided a lovely tour of the area heading to Simons Cove to see the African penguins. He is knowledgeable about South African history and culture. He gave us clear instructions about where to walk to see the penguins. The penguin encounter was great: saw them nesting and tending to their young. You can get quite close to these interesting birds. On the way to the beautiful Chapmans Peak drive, Jean Luc stopped at a pharmacy at our request so we could purchase an item we needed that day. He provided just the right amount of time for the penguin encounter and the scenic view points on the Chapmans peak drive.

Jean Luc was very descriptive as we drove around Cape Town, giving descriptions of each stop we had and also other things we drove past. He brought us to Boulders beach at a great time as half an hour later there was a big queue. It's a great half day tour if you want to fit something else into your day, we were back at our hotel at 1:30-2pm so had plenty of time left to do something else. Boulders beach is a definite must see!

Our tour guide Albert was super friendly and knowledgeable. On our way to see the penguins he told us about the history of areas we were travelling through. We visited a Simon's town on the way to the penguins which was a nice little seaside town. From there we went on to the penguins. The penguins were super cute and you can get really close to them (they bite if you get too close though). There were also lots of these little animals called dassie running around. We also saw a mongoose and some really cool looking birds (other than the penguins). We went across Chapmans peak drive and checked out a few towns along the coast. Our guide Albert was really charming and informative the entire trip. It was a great day out and I would recommend it to anyone going to Cape Town.
